Sustainability

Concept of Sustainability

Through the practice of “Creation & Innovation,” the Glosel Group has been working to contribute to the development of industry while maintaining harmony with society. Based on the philosophy of “with customers,” “with society,” “with shareholders,” “with employees,” and “with the environment,” we will strive to provide products and services that match customer needs and aim to satisfy and inspire our customers. We have been promoting sustainability activities with our basic management policy to become a company that is most supported and trusted by customers and gains the understanding and affinity of its shareholders through its sound results and transparent corporate management. In April 2022, we established the Sustainability Committee to further strengthen our sustainability initiatives. Within the Sustainability Committee, we have launched four working groups (Environment WG, Technology WG, Human Resources WG, and Governance WG) to work together as a group to realize a sustainable society.

Sustainability Basic Policy

The Glosel Group strives to contribute to the development of Japanese industry under the management philosophy, “Creation & Innovation” and complies with all laws and regulations
in harmony with society. As the most trusted company, we pursue satisfaction that inspires our customers and aim to achieve
both “realization of a sustainable society” and “realization of sustainable growth” through our business activities.

In our efforts, we aim to increase corporate value so as to earn the trust of all stakeholders,
including customers, shareholders, employees, and local communities with which we coexist and
contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society by addressing social issues.

Promotion Organization

On April 1, 2022, we established the “Sustainability Committee,” chaired by the President, Representative Director, to promote sustainable management of the Glosel Group. At this committee, management is actively involved in issues related to sustainability and efforts to resolve them and deliberates and manages the progress on issues related to realizing sustainable management from a medium to long-term perspective, thereby improving the effectiveness of sustainable management and enhancing communication with stakeholders.

The Glosel Group strives to promote businesses that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases and the mitigation of climate change to realize a decarbonized society.
We will reduce the generation of chemical substances harmful to the global environment of a smart society and create a society where people can live in harmony with nature.

Materiality

Identification process

The Glosel Group conducted the following three steps to identify materiality. In consideration of the issues unique to the semiconductor industry and social issues, which have high expectations from stakeholders, we have identified the following as important issues: “Promoting health by environmental management,” “Enriching our lives with innovative technology,” “Creating a vibrant organization with diverse human resources,” and “Building a strong corporate structure through the implementation of corporate governance.”

Identification process

Importance map

The Glosel Group is committed to contributing to the SDGs through various business activities under the management philosophy of “Creation & Innovation.” Considering both the impact on business continuity and the perspective of our stakeholders, we identified and mapped materiality from four perspectives as important issues for sustainable growth.

Risks and opportunities

The Glosel Group’s vision for a sustainable society is to continue contributing to the development of industry while maintaining harmony with society through the practice of “Creation & Innovation.” The Glosel Group aims to contribute to a sustainable society through its relationships with customers and suppliers and believes that the sustainable society that the Glosel Group aspires to can be achieved by continuing to strengthen and improve its internal human resources and organization.
In our semiconductor business, the Glosel Group’s major customers are in the automotive and industrial equipment industries, which are highly dynamic and have a significant impact on the environment. Therefore, there is a strong need to visualize and reduce CO2 emissions of the Glosel Group and the value chain. On the other hand, amid major changes in the industry, the importance of semiconductors is expected to increase further due to the electrification of automobiles and the shift to an autonomous driving society, as well as the progress of companies in energy saving, efficiency, and digital transformation, and new players are expected to emerge. The Glosel Group will use this social change as an opportunity and work on addressing social issues.
The Glosel Group has a high-sensitivity strain sensor, “STREAL,” with which we can contribute to solving various social issues, such as wind power generation, social infrastructure maintenance, and efficient collaboration between robots and people.
A diverse range of human resources with diverse knowledge, experience, and ideas is essential for “Creation & Innovation” to realize a sustainable society. From now on, the Glosel Group considers the acquisition and development of human resources to promote new businesses as an important issue. To this end, we will strive to acquire and develop diverse employees, as well as to create a work environment in which these employees can feel physically and mentally healthy and motivated to work.

Materiality

At the Glosel Group, diverse range of employees work every day to support the businesses of our customers. In order to promote responsible business activities that take into consideration various social issues and various stakeholders, we have identified four key issues (materiality issues) of the Glosel Group and created our vision for 2030.
In terms of business opportunities, we have launched specific initiatives in our medium-term management plan, Project “S.” In semiconductor products and electronics parts, we plan to increase sales by contributing to the electrification of vehicles and development of ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) by enhancing our strengths in software development and on-site support. As for STREAL sales, we will work to increase sales by entering the market for energy-saving equipment and renewable energy, mainly related to industrial robots, wind power generation, and predictive maintenance of infrastructure.
